Windows Installs

Visit http://my.pcprotect.com/windows/login in order to download and install the PC Protect app. The download will begin immediately and should take only a few seconds on an average internet connection. Once it is complete, depending on browser, locate and open the downloaded installer.

It is likely a User Access Control warning will appear asking if the PC Protect app can make changes to your device. Click Yes to begin the install.

Follow the on-screen installer wizard to initiate install on your computer.

The install progress bar will be displayed after clicking Install and should only take a matter of seconds to complete. If it does take longer, it is likely a sizeable update to Windows is being installed in order for PC Protect to run.

The PC Protect app will appear on screen once the install wizard closes. The app will begin downloading the most up to date definitions used to define, detect and remove viruses. This process can take a few minutes.

When the dialogue box below is displayed, click OK, Start Scan to begin the first virus scan of your computer.

As an upgraded user of PC Protect, the app by default is set to run virus scans weekly. However, scans can be started manually whenever, and scheduled scans can be configured to run at different frequencies in Settings, which is accessible by clicking the cog/gear icon in the top right corner of the app window.

The PC Protect app will run when you start up Windows, but can also be found in the Start Menu on Windows, the same as any other software installed.

The final step for virus protection is to ensure Real-time protection is enabled. On the PC Protect menu, click Antivirus, then in the sub-menu, click Real-Time Protection.
